I completely understand why this movie was so polarizing, but I absolutely loved it. Tree of Life is visually stunning and poetically scripted. The experience of watching it is at times disorienting and confusing, but the film is so movingly beautiful that I didn’t mind. Though the entire cast was great, I thought Jessica Chastain’s performance as Mrs. O’Brien was the highlight of the film. While she is nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in The Help, it’s this movie that really should have led to her first nomination. Tree of Life should be up for many more awards, but at the very least, I hope the film takes home a well-deserved Oscar for cinematography.
